Church of Nuestra Señora del Azogue

13th century

This church is located next to the Castle, on the top of Puebla de Sanabria and its southern and western walls, with their respective doorways have been preserved from Romanesque period. 

The southern doorway is under a porch located between the tower and southern side of the transept. It consists of 3 splayed semicircular archivolts on jambs. The outer one is decorated with four-petal flowers, the middle one consists of a molding surrounded by intertwined stems forming diamonds and the inner is formed by a nacelle between 2 convex moldings.

The western doorway has 4 pointed archivolts. Deserve some mention the columns and statues against them made of a kind of slate, while the rest are of granite. On its key can be seen a bearded gentleman's head. The capitals have fern, main-ribs, fronds, ellipses motifs and human figures. On the door is a round window or porthole also Romanesque (the molding shows an eroded checkered) of great simplicity.

Under the atrium is a Romanesque font of granite. It is conical and decorated with an angel between 2 crosses with fleurs-de-lis, a man in the front with a book in his hands, and another hooded figure.
